Mrs Millar's Blog July 2025
Posted on 22nd Jul 2025As the school year ends, we all hope that the fine weather continues so it can be enjoyed for a little while longer.
Year 11 completed their GCSE exams, and we know that when they receive their results on the 21st August, they will reflect on the efforts they put in.
Year 10 are out on their work experience during these final 5 days of the term. The reports we have had so far are all really positive about their attitude and commitment. It makes me really proud to hear this – well done year 10!
We are sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Deaville and are grateful for all her hard work during her time at Stradbroke. We also have staff wedding bells this summer with both Miss Street and Miss Ling getting married. I know you will join me in wishing them both all the best on their respective big days.
The long summer days are a great opportunity for our young people to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, but that brings with it dangers. It is important that everyone takes care on the roads if out on their bikes or walking. Helmets can save lives as can walking single file towards oncoming traffic. The hot weather also increases the risk for sun stroke and sun burn. Drinking plenty of water, wearing a hat and covering up during the hottest part of the day can all help.
Ahead of the return to school in September please ensure that you have checked your child’s Parent Pay account to ensure there are sufficient funds for them to purchase food. It is also worth checking you have your Parent Pay alerts turned on, so you are notified as their credit is dropping and have time to “top up”.
Please can I remind parents that only blue badge holders should make use of the disabled parking pace and that students must not be picked up or dropped off in the car park at the start and end of the day.
The students return to school on Thursday 4th September in full school uniform. Our uniform can be purchased from Birds of Dereham (www.birdsofdereham.com) or Stevensons (www.stevensons.co.uk) A reminder of some additional uniform rules:
· One pair of studs in the lower ear lobe only
· Hair a natural colour and style
· Discrete makeup
· No nail polish or acrylic nails
· One ring
· One chain or necklace inside the shirt/blouse
· No bracelets
· Black shoes, no trainers or boots
All jewellery must be removed and hair tied back in certain lessons to comply with health & safety regulations.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for their continued support. Working together is always the most positive approach. I wish you all an enjoyable summer break and I hope everyone manages some time to relax with family and friends.
