Mrs Millar's Blog October 2025
Posted on 23rd Oct 2025The tragic circumstances of the last few days means my usual end of half term round up is not at the forefront of our thoughts. Instead, I want to highlight ongoing support that parents and students can access for wellbeing and grief during this difficult time for the whole school community. As previously shared the website ‘Hope Again’ (https://www.hopeagain.org.uk/) is a good resource for parents. Another useful website for resources to help you support your child can be found at ‘Young Minds’ (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/parents-a-z-mental-health-guide/grief-and-loss/). Additionally, ‘Cruse Bereavement Support’ have a telephone helpline 0808 808 1677 and so do ‘Grief Encounter’ on 0808 802 0111 (www.griefencounter.org.uk).
Locally there is ‘The Rainbow Tree’, a support group for children suffering a bereavement. They offer a free of charge, informal, monthly group meeting providing activities for children who have been affected by a death, giving them the chance to explore and process their own grief. The group meets in a safe and supporting setting and is facilitated by funeral professionals and a psychotherapist. They meet at: Roydon Village Hall, High Road, Roydon, IP22 5RB on the last Saturday of each month from 10.00am - 12.00 noon. For more information, contact: Lucy - 07956 167374, Susan - 07879 776175 or Louise - rainbowtreehelp@gmail.com
Everyone grieves differently and at different pace so please remember to reach out, we are here to help in the weeks and months to come.
After half term, we have a number of events on the calendar I want to highlight:
Monday 3rd November – Year 10 Mock Interviews
Tuesday 4th November – Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Award Parents Information Evening
Monday 10th – Friday 21st November – Year 11 Mock Exams
Thursday 27th November – Year 9 PD Morning
Monday 8th December – Christmas Concert
Wednesday 10th December – Year 11 Parents Evening
Tuesday 16th December – Christmas lunch
The half term holiday will have a different feel for so many of our students, families and staff this year, but please do try to have some time to stop reflect and recharge. Thank you for your ongoing support.
