Head's Blog September 2019Posted on 1st Sep 2018
Welcome back to a new school year. I am delighted to report that the students have quickly settled down to their studies this term, making good progress in their learning. We were especially pleased to welcome our new Year Seven students and can confirm that they have made an impressive start to their high school studies. They are growing in confidence every day.
During the summer we were delighted to celebrate the successes of our students with them as they collected their GCSE results. The school had another very positive set of results this year, and we are thrilled that our students leave here with all the skills and qualifications necessary to go onto their chosen post-16 courses. Once again, the GCSE results attained by our students show that while they are at Stradbroke they make much better progress in their studies than students in most other schools. Our main focus is always to ensure that every student is supported and challenged to achieve their very best at school and make progress beyond their own expectations. Students were justly rewarded for the effort and commitment that they put in during their time with us. These results were also testament to the dedication and hard work of our incredible teaching staff.
Open Evening and Taster Day for year six is a highlight of the new term. We are looking forward to welcoming you on 26th September for a look around the school and for the opportunity of meeting staff and students. There will be a wide range of activities going on, and Year Seven will act as tour guides, showing off their new school.
There are already numerous school trips lined up for this term including three theatre trips, a tour of Norwich Cathedral, a science lecture, a geography field trip and a group of students have been to Wembley to watch England versus Spain. On top of all of these exciting opportunities a wide range of extracurricular clubs are available at lunchtimes. Students here have some amazing opportunities thanks to the dedication of the staff.
Auditions for the next school production have already commenced, and I am sure that rehearsals will soon be starting. I am thrilled that we are following the successes of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ and ‘The Sound of Music’ with ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. I would recommend that you book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Please regularly look for updates on all our activities on this website. I am looking forward to continuing to work with you and your children to ensure another successful year for all members of the school community. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you want to discuss any aspect of school life.
