Year 4 pupils enjoy a taste of life at Stradbroke High School

On 7th July 2016 we invited all of our Year 4 children from the Primary Schools to a taster morning at the High School.  They had two short lessons to give them an idea of what life might be like at Stradbroke High School.

One group had a PRE lesson (Philosophy, Religion and Ethics) where they acted out the parable of the Prodigal Son.

They also had a keyword challenge with scrabble letters.

Geography had them exploring the school and grounds by following an orienteering course on a map.  They worked in teams and marked a card.  Others had a Graphics taster lesson, and another group did PE.

Some pupils also had an art lesson where they did pastel transfer drawings with bold colours, shapes and patterns.  Another group had a History lesson where they looked at medieval knights, and how they were supposed to behave: what is known as the 'code of chivalry'.  Year 4 translated some Old English to find out how a knight should look, and then investigated the sport of 'jousting'.  Each student produced their own jousting knight puppet and we each had a joust!

They all had a really great time and we thoroughly enjoyed having them.  We will look forward to inviting them up to more taster sessions in the autumn.
