An 11-16 Academy
A capacity audience packed the main hall of Stradbroke High School on the 4th of December for our annual Christmas concert. A beautiful blend of both music and poetry helped to set just the right tone for the beginning of the festive season. This year, a variety of soloists were joined by smaller groups, as well as the brass ensemble, orchestra, choir and amplifier groups.
Expressive solos from Annalise Rolfe and Spencer Kent, as well as a sensitive brass duet from Jessica McInnes and Josie Palmer enhanced the contributions made by the instrumental groups. The wide range of styles helped to achieve a really atmospheric evening, ranging from the warm tone of the brass ensemble's arrangement of 'White Christmas', to the magical three part singing of the school choir, with their rendition of 'Away in a Manger' set to an exquisite Normandy folk tune.
The evening was further enhanced this year by the school's catering team, who provided festive canapes and Christmas treats during the interval. Well done to everyone who made the evening such a vibrant success.
