An 11-16 Academy
Rachael Keeble and Jonathan Williams, Directors of the production have provided us with this review:
"We are very proud and pleased to report back on the success of the school production 'The Sound of Music' which ran for 3 nights at the end of February. In total the production involved 36 students across all year groups in either an acting, music, technical, backstage or editorial role. Bearing in mind the size of the school this is an impressive number of our students who were keen to get involved. All of these students gave their time, commitment and enthusiasm to the production and made it a resounding success. This was a team effort, which not only involved so many of our students, but staff as well, who pulled together to ensure the production was of the highest quality. In total over 3 nights 485 tickets were sold which serves to highlight the support for the show from the school community and beyond.
We also did a matinee performance to feeder primary schools with 95 children attending and have already received some very enthusiastic, positive written feedback from some of those who came. This production was certainly an ambitious one to undertake because of its scale, and we are extremely impressed by the commitment and professionalism of our students in the way in which they approached this show. Stand out performances came from Skye Lintott as Maria, Joe Most as Captain Von Trapp, Ellie Ryan in two roles as Mother Abbess and Liesl, Brandon Studd as Max and Becky Taylor as Elsa to name but a few. All performers delivered captivating performances and really brought this well loved show to life. Quote from an audience member: ' I didn't think they would pull off a large scale musical such as this, but honestly they did, and really did it justice.'
