Pulling Out the Stops for a Creative Community Project.

A group of Year 8 and Year 11 students have been involved in a creative project involving both the music and art departments, that will eventually see a historic pipe organ restored. The 'Father' Willis organ at St. Peter and St. Paul's church in Fressingfield is being brought back to its former glory through both grants and fundraising activities. As part of the project, the group of pupils attended a workshop at All Saints Church in Stradbroke, where Mr Julian Haggett (Organist of St. Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich) explained how 'the king of instruments' worked. Pupils were able to explore and play the instrument. In addition, two Year 11 pupils have been given the opportunity to have lessons with Mr Haggett as part of the project. Pupils in Year 8 are now hard at work with Miss Robinson in the art department, working on a design that will eventually be stenciled onto one section of display  pipes on the organ at Fressingfield, as a permanent reminder of the project for future generations.
