The creative and performing arts were celebrated in true style on the evening of March 5th with our first showcase event. A large number of pupils from across the school came together to participate in an exciting mix of dance, drama and music. The event was enhanced further by a fantastic display of work from the art and technology departments.

Drama students from Year 8 presented work that they had been refining on the theme of 'March', whilst Year 10 presented a piece on how education had changed over time. Year 11 students presented two very powerful extracts taken from 'The Importance of Being Earnest'.

A number of musical ensembles performed with skill and expression during the evening. These included the orchestra, choir, samba ensemble, gifted and talented ensemble and the amplifier group. In addition, we were treated to an outstanding guitar performance by Jack Gionis in Year 11. The polished nature of the music on offer was a real highlight of the evening.

It was also wonderful to see another art form thriving at Stradbroke in the dance performances that took place. Students from the lower school provided expressive interpretations to differing styles of music. The evening culminated in a fusion of gymnastics and music with a routine being performed to the 'Don't Stop Believing'. A fabulous time was had by all, and we look forward to our next showcase with real anticipation.
