An 11-16 Academy
Stradbroke High School currently has three vacancies for parent governors to sit on our Governing Body. The commitment is not an onerous one, and it is an opportunity to help to make a difference to our pupils’ education. The amount of involvement is down to you.
There is one full formal governing body meeting each term. In addition, there is an informal full governing body meeting to discuss, and learn about, specific issues. Committees also meet once per term. Three evenings a term would therefore be a typical parent governor commitment.
So what do governors do? We are described as “critical friends” who ask the what, why, how questions, and look at the strategic direction of the school. There is plenty of training available if you feel you don’t have the expertise, though the ability to ask questions from a parent’s perspective is the most important skill for a parent governor to have.
If you are interested, please let the school office know. We look forward to hearing from you.
