Maths Formulae were a family affair on Open Evening

It was great to welcome so many families of primary school pupils into the maths department on Open Evening: the theme of GCSE formulae in M1 proved very popular with lots of parents trying to remember what they knew in the dim and distant past and also explaining how they use them every day in construction, aviation and engineering.

Thank you to all those parents who spent time asking questions and encouraging their children to get involved - the challenge of using circle formula on chocolate mini-rolls and chocolate oranges - not to mention cylinders of smarties - all proved very appealing.

Thanks to our helpful year 10 mathematicians, there was definitely an appreciation of the enjoyment of maths throughout the evening - and chocolate!
