On Tuesday Stradbroke hosted the annual High Suffolk Netball tournament for the under 16’s and under 14’s.
The under 16 team were up against a number of strong teams. Despite a bit of a rocky start, the team started to work together better as the games progressed. A win against Bungay gave the whole team a boost. Chloe and Amber held the team together fantastically in and around the centre third and Abbie and Sophie worked particularly hard in the shooting circle, despite strong defence by our opponents. In the end the under 16’s finished 7th. Player of the match went to Megan Garrod for her fantastic work in the D as the goalkeeper.

For the under 14 team, this was the first time they had all played together. This always makes it slightly challenging when playing against well-developed teams. However, the team did not let this affect them and worked fantastically together to finish in a very respectable 4th place. Player of the match goes to Chloe Perkins for fantastic work as an attacker, in particular her great spatial awareness skills.

Last Thursday the Year 10 and 11 netball team travelled to Hartismere to play their first netball game of the year. Both teams felt the pressure against Hartismere but continued to work together as a team and support one another. In the end Hartismere won both games. The Year 10 player of the match went to Megan Garrod and the Year 11 player of the match went to Lauren Algar.

Last week the Year 9 girls played Hartismere in a league fixture. Following on from brilliant play the week before, the girls won, beating Hartismere 8-6. The game finished with an awesome goal by Lucy! Player of the match goes to Eleanor Derbyshire.
