An 11-16 Academy
We first started with a bit of a worry as the last time we went against Hartismere we got thrashed 18-1. However, we wanted to get our own back and try to play at our best ability, We started off really well and moved into space. We scored 3 times which we were quite pleased about, but then they scored 1. We didn’t want to finish the first game losing so we fought back and scored 1 more goal. This made it 4-1. Miss Firbank gave us lots of moral support like we needed because we were so cold. She told us what we needed to improve on, to make sure they didn’t get the upper hand.
In the second game we kept going even when it started to rain, We scored an extra 2 goals and so did Hartismere, but we weren’t too worried as we had 6 and they had 3. They were trying their best to beat us but we knew what we had to do to make sure they didn’t win. We worked as a team, moved into space and made sure that our throws were accurate.
Many of us in the third game wanted to get this over and done with but we knew that we had to keep playing strong. We scored an extra 2 goals, but they scored another one which made it 8-4. When we thought that everything was going to plan, our goal attack (Gemma Oliver) badly damaged both of her knees and had to get sent off court. So we were one player down and Zara had to play goal attack and goal shooter at the same time. When Gemma left, Hartismere got stronger because they knew we only had 6 instead of 7. They scored 2 extra goals that got us worried but when the whistle went we just felt so pleased that we had won. Our player of the match was Zara Featly because we were so pleased with how she carried on without Gemma by her side.
