An 11-16 Academy
Macmillan Cancer Support praised our students in an assembly following their recent ‘House’ charity fundraising day organised by Blyth House.
Helen Glenholmes from Macmillan addressed the whole school to receive the funds with thanks and explain how the money raised (£174.26) would help twelve recently diagnosed cancer patients receive the initial support they need from Macmillan nurses. Helen outlined how there are more than 200 types of cancer prevalent in the UK each with their own symptoms and treatments, stressing the need for funding from events to allow the charity to provide practical, medical and financial support and to push for better cancer care.
Well done to everyone for supporting the charity event and look out for the next charity House event later this term!
