We recently took 15 Year 10 and 18 Year 9 students to the London Central Mosque at Regent's Park. We arrived in London early and so were given a tour of the sites by our very helpful driver. We had lunch in the park and then went to the Mosque.

The building was beautiful with a gold dome roof and inside the prayer hall there were stunning colours and Arabic Writing.  We were allowed to go into the Prayer hall were our guide talked about the 5 Pillars of Islam and answered some questions.  Girls were asked to cover their hair and we all took our shoes off.

We then went downstairs to the education rooms where we heard more about the beliefs and practices of the religion. What was interesting was the frequent mention of Christian beliefs which showed how the two religions are connected in many ways.

Next time we intend to plan a slightly longer visit to the Mosque to explore their exhibitions in more detail and take more photographs.

We were made to feel very welcome by our guide and look forward to our next visit.
