Many congratulations to former Stradbroke High School musician Jack Benjamin James, who was recently awarded a first class honours degree in music production from York St. John University. Stradbroke musicians celebrated the arrival of Christmas in style with their annual Christmas concert in the main hall. An appreciative audience of parents and friends was treated to a polished festive selection of favourites from across a range of genres and periods. Many congratulations to members of the Stradbroke High School orchestra for their fantastic contribution to two community events this weekend. The talented Year 11 musicians of 2016 are celebrating after receiving their excellent results. The GCSE A*-C pass rate for music was a fantastic 100%, with 36% of students achieving A*-A. The music department has successfully been awarded a grant from the EMI Music Sound Foundation to assist with an outreach project. The grant has allowed the school to purchase a number of woodwind instruments to support the development of woodwind teaching in some of our feeder primary schools. It will therefore allow those pupils who otherwise might never have the opportunity to learn the flute or clarinet, to have access to a good quality musical instrument. Stradbroke High School has been awarded the Incorporated Society of Musicians’ Bronze certificate in GCSE music.
