The winning entries were then scanned and added to a card background to form the 'official' school Christmas Card which was then sent out to our friends.
We had 86 entries from the Lower School and the original intention was to choose around 20 - but the standard was high and we ended up squeezing 34 small scans into the picture. Some…Continue

Despite a weather forecast which left a lot to be desired, the Qualifying Expedition remained dry and even, at times, sunny! Spirits were high and determination ruled.
The start point was just outside Aldeburgh and participants had planned their own routes to the campsite at Eastbridge.
The site is on a farm, is small and very basic (two huts with a toilet and washbasin – no showers or other ‘luxuries’), but just the job for DofE. An energetic game of football in the evening…Continue

On Saturday 27 November Lawrie Hammond and Sue Ackerley from FOSH – Friends of the High School - donned their overalls and safety boots and drove around the village in Levi Smith’s truck picking up unwanted metal. It was a dreadful day with hail and freezing rain. However, an amazing amount of old stuff was thrown on to the pavements following the school’s plea for scrap metal.
Two very full truckloads plus two trailers and a pick up were collected that morning and weighed back at…

We have had a fantastic response to our twilight sessions for Gifted and Talented Year 9 and 10 students. They are working towards an essay about the relationship between science and religion and 16 students attended the first session. They were all challenged by the material and enjoyed the discussions.

We first started with a bit of a worry as the last time we went against Hartismere we got thrashed 18-1. However, we wanted to get our own back and try to play at our best ability, We started off really well and moved into space. We scored 3 times which we were quite pleased about, but then they scored 1. We didn’t want to finish the first game losing so we fought back and scored 1 more goal. This made it 4-1. Miss Firbank gave us lots of moral support like we needed because we were so cold.…Continue

The annual careers event for Years 10 and 11 was held on 10 October. Around 160 pupils and parents attended to talk to the 21 different organisations represented.
The ‘next stage’ can be a daunting prospect made more apparent by the changing school leaving age. From September 2013 all pupils must stay in education or training until at least 17 years and from 2014 it will be 18 years. Most pupils do this already and as college courses and…Continue
