Visit from Danny Nobbs
Danny Nobbs visited the school and spoke to the pupils in an assembly. Danny was an ordinary young man until at 17 he became extraordinary. He had a tragic motor bike accident that left him fighting for his life and then paralysed from the chest down – for ever.
Most of us, both staff and pupils feel hard done by at times, we feel sorry for ourselves, because we fall out with our friends or we have too much homework (or marking homework) or we have to come to school every day when we…

Our Eco-Friendly school
You may have noticed that there has been great building activity on the school roof recently. Suffolk County Council have installed and commissioned 106 photo-voltaic solar panels (PV).
For those that are not eco-minded, the words ‘solar panel’ is used for two entirely different devices. The first, thermal solar panels are essentially black painted radiators; they heat up in the sun and transfer the heat into your water tank, thereby saving you energy. The photo-voltaic…

UEA Trip Report
Fifteen would-be undergraduates joined other schools from the region to sample what UEA might have to offer after sixth form.
The day was extraordinarily well organised, each group of pupils had two minders (ambassadors) who were all current students. Each of our pupils had chosen three workshops to join, where they mixed with other schools and their temporary passes were pre-printed with those details – so no-one could get it wrong.
Said Jacob Cleverly “… the workshops…

Summer Term Letter
Welcome back to the last term of this academic year and, following the forthcoming GCSE examinations, we will soon be saying farewell to our current Year 11.
We wish them good luck in their examinations and in whatever they do in the future. Governors visiting the school always comment on the work ethic of the pupils and the positive working relationship between staff and pupils. I know staff are working hard to support the pupils in their examinations and the support pupils…

News Update 26th March
This has been a busy term in a number of ways, but particularly due to our new Academy Status, with effect from March 1st. Over the coming weeks and months we will be making changes to our school stationery and pupils’ uniform, to reflect the change to Stradbroke High School.
The only forthcoming staffing change involves Mrs Cheyne and our temporary History teacher, Miss Barnett, who will both be leaving to undertake new challenges. I am very pleased to announce the appointment of…

Stradbroke High School currently has three vacancies for parent governors to sit on our Governing Body. The commitment is not an onerous one, and it is an opportunity to help to make a difference to our pupils’ education. The amount of involvement is down to you.

News Update 5th March 2012
We are pleased to announce that as of 1st March 2012 our school became an Academy and will now revert to the title of Stradbroke High School.
What does this mean and what difference will it make to the running of the school? Initially very little will be seen to change; we will gradually change over to our new letterheads, website names and eventually uniforms. The longer-term effects will be significant.
You know that OFSTED rated our school as ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’…
