Our aim is to stimulate interest and enjoyment in PE, while promoting the role of physical activity as part of a healthy active lifestyle. Pupils will experience a range of physical activities, catering for differing abilities and interests. All pupils will be challenged not only to improve practical abilities but be encouraged to develop personal, social and decision making skills, leading to lifelong participation in sport.
The extensive range of activities we offer includes Football, Hockey, Rugby, and Netball in the winter, followed by Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, Rounders and Softball during the summer. We have two indoor spaces where the pupils enjoy Gymnastics, Badminton, Basketball, Fitness and Table Tennis throughout the year.
Pupils have the opportunity to represent the school in a range of sporting activities by competing in local events and leagues on a regular basis. We also extend pupils extra curricular opportunities by offering daily lunchtime clubs for all ages and abilities. There are year round inter-form competitions culminating in Sports Day at the end of the summer term.
We provide a variety of leadership opportunities through the Sports Leaders Award and give pupils the chance to work with our feeder primary schools pupils in order to develop their leadership potential. Our Sports Captains also work closely with younger pupils to encourage and support their development in PE.
Pupils are given the chance to broaden their outlook on physical activity by participating in some of the wide range of trips and visits that we offer. We run residential trips both locally and overseas, as well as regular visits to high profile sporting venues such as Wembley, Twickenham and Wimbledon.
