Governor Profiles

Andy Smith - Chair of Governors

I have been volunteering as a Governor at Stradbroke High School since 2005 and have had the privilege of being Chair since 2008.  I am a Chartered Engineer but now retire from full time employment.  I became involved when our daughter attended and was impressed with the ethos of the school and have been a Governor since.

Karen Lynch

Young people should leave school with the academic results they are capable of and the skills they need to face the world.  Here I see a school that can provide both.   I spent 23 years in Investment Management/Banking and a few as a teaching assistant.  I now provide clerical support on a self-employed basis.  I love being a Governor here; being part of a team that is committed to being the best it can.

Richard Pierce Saunderson

I’ve been a school governor at a variety of schools for over 20 years. I’m the chief executive of a grant-making charity, and a published novelist. All my children have been to Stradbroke High School. I’m committed to universal access to high-quality education.

Beth Soule

I have spent 45 years involved in education as a teacher, headteacher, independent adviser and governor.  I was part of the team that established Suffolk One (now One) and was a governor there for three years.  I have always been committed to comprehensive education and in particular to the role played by rural secondary schools in their local communities.  I am also vice-chair of Suffolk Poetry Society.

Amanda Havers

I am a community governor with two children at the school.  I jointly own and manage three Early Years settings and I'm a representative on the Suffolk Schools Forum.  I have also been a primary school governor.

Sally Clarke

A local, staff governor living in Laxfield since 2001: vice chair of Laxfield PCC and a lay elder in the Four Rivers benefice. I became a teacher in 2009 following a career in business. As head of maths, business and ICT and Director of Enterprise I represent a wide range of interests and perspectives.

Stephanie Moss

I am lucky enough to be both teacher and staff governor here at SHS. This is a fantastic school to work in; I am surrounded by committed, talented and enthusiastic colleagues. I also experience the school as a parent - both my children attend and are flourishing.
Prior to my teaching career I worked in TV production and design, spent time abroad as a museum designer and then returned to university to delve more deeply into my love of medieval history!

Brian Goffee

I moved to Stradbroke from Cardiff in 2007 as I have two daughters and grandchildren living in East Anglia.  I joined the governing body in 2008 as a community governor as I believe that the school has a key role to play in the development of a strong and sustainable community.  Following an engineering degree, I enjoyed 28 years in a variety of operational and strategic management roles within the telecommunications industry and, latterly, 8 years as a director of The Sports Council for Wales.  My governor focus is on finance, administration and strategic planning in support of delivering excellence in the provision of education within our rural community.

David Franklin

I am a parent governor with one child currently in the school. After studying forestry, I have worked within forestry, arboriculture and horticulture for a number of private and public sector organisations.

Lucy Game

I am a parent governor with over 20 years experience of public sector working.  I believe Stradbroke High School offers a unique learning environment which enables pupils to thrive, both academically and as confident individuals.  I joined the Governing Body to support the school, staff and pupils.
